Millionaire Mind

Catherine graduated from one of the most prestigious universities. She is above-average in intelligence and her working hours seem to be 24/7. But Catherine has always been jealous of Erika, her average childhood friend who got a bachelor’s degree in a state university who is now a professional but still manages to go barhopping every Friday and take trips outside town once a month. As far as wealth is concerned, Erika is way above the financially struggling Catherine.

What does Erika have that Catherine doesn’t? The millionaire mind. I recently got this book by T. Harv Eker entitled The Secret of the Millionaire Mind. Let me share with you what secrets I have discovered about the so-called millionaire mind:

• The key to wealth is not the tools (skills, intelligence, luck, education, etc.), it’s the PERSON. That is, his mindset, his inner set of beliefs.
• It is about engraving that money blueprint in our subconscious mind to automatically direct us to make money and achieve our goals.
• The millionaire mind helps you set your eyes on making fortune whereas others are glued to fear. This financial blueprint is created through our everyday exposure to money messages from the environment we live in.
• It says, “I create my life”. The poor mind says, “Life happens to me”.
• It plays the money game to win. The poor mind plays the money game to not lose.
• The millionaire mind is committed to staying wealthy. The poor mind wants to be rich.
• It thinks big. The poor mind thinks tiny.
• It concentrates on opportunities. The poor mind is glued to hindrances.
• The millionaire mind takes rich and successful people as models. The poor mind resents the rich.
• It is positive. The poor mind drowns in pessimism.
• It swallows their problems. The poor mind is swallowed by their problems.
• The millionaire mind thinks “both”. The poor mind dwells on the “either/or”.
• It values its net worth. The poor mind prizes its working income.
• It manages their money well. The poor mind mismanages their money well.
• It lets their money work hard for them. The poor mind works hard for their money.
• The millionaire mind works despite fear. The poor mind allows fear to stagnate them.
• It never ceases to learn and grow. The poor mind says it already knows.

What is the secret of millionaires? Their millionaire mind! We have outlined the differences between the millionaire mind and the poor or ordinary mind. The question is: Do you have the poor mind? Or do you have the millionaire mind?

Or, better yet, do you want to have a millionaire mind? Decide now. And decide quickly.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

Twelve-year-old Alyssa is a very precocious and unique child. She learned how to read at the age of four and was into Shakespeare by the time she was seven. Academically, she excels and is currently top one in her gifted students’ class. Because she is the best, she is always sent to student competitions. Alyssa is also musically inclined and plays various instruments such as the piano, violin and the flute. She is in the local orchestra and performs with them in concerts. In addition she ballets, tap dances, acts and sings and naturally is a member of the village theater group. She is physically very agile and outruns all the boys in her class. In fact she represents her school in triathlons. One would think that because of all the things that Alyssa does, she would feel pressured and miserable. In reality though, she feels the opposite. She is bubbly, happy and very positive. When people ask her what her secret is, she tells them that her genes may have given her skills and talents but her happiness and positive thinking is all because of Abraham Maslow and his hierarchy of needs.

So who is Maslow and what is this needs hierarchy? Abraham Maslow was a psychologist who created a series of human needs that according to him had to be accomplished by people in order for them to reach self-actualization. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is depicted as a five-leveled pyramid. The lowest levels of the pyramid are the most basic needs while the top holds the more complex needs. The hierarchy means that people must fulfill the basic needs before they move up to the other ones.

Rules of Attraction

It’s as if Brett was born under a lucky star – and considering the fortune that fills his life, it sure is one heck of a lucky star! He has a good family, a wonderful set of friends, a stable and well-paid job and killer looks. He has everything that anyone would die for just to have. Ladies admire him and gentlemen want to be like him. But Brett’s fortune isn’t because of astrology or anything of the sort. He says that his secret lies in knowing the rules of attraction. When he told me about it, I initially thought that it was a hoax – especially when he told me that such could impact an individual’s overall life. But when he explained to me the following principles underlying the rules of attraction, I was convinced that he wasn’t just pulling my leg.

We create our own reality. We attract to ourselves what we want and what we do not want through our thoughts and feelings. If we focus on hating our jobs, we will fail to see the satisfying point of our employment ergo we won’t have a happy work life.

Are You Trying to Overcome Your Struggle with Spiritual Prosperity?

Spiritual Prosperity

Rosario meditates, prays, and hopes everyday. The belief in God and divinities has long been instilled in her by her ancient parents. Rosario is religious with her divine practices yet she feels empty inside. She is lacking and barren. Rosario has lost touched with those outside her religious world.

This is a classic example of religiosity gone wrong. Many practicing religious people such as rabbis, priests, church volunteers and others feel spiritually wealthy because they serve the churches of their chosen gods. Therefore, they see their proximity as a path to gaining spiritual prosperity – the closer they are to doing church work and serving their congregations, then the more spiritually prosperous they feel. However spiritual prosperity goes beyond serving one’s church and practicing what has become traditional, like prayers and masses. It is more of an introspective viewing of one’s life and the serving of those who are much in need. I am not saying that we might as well drop all our religious acts– what I am merely pointing out is that spiritual prosperity goes beyond the walls of our churches.

Introspection for one involves looking deep into ourselves and knowing the purpose of our desires, whether they are for the gain of everyone or for personal materialistic achievement. If the purpose is geared towards the benefit of others, then such is an aspect of spiritual prosperity, although not the entirety of this wealth.

Spiritual prosperity is also believing and acting on the belief. The financial crisis that many experience today is so tangible that many are also in the conscious awareness of fear of losing everything. When asked what they understand about prosperity – they might answer money – and the lack of it is the opposite of prosperity. But money is not prosperity – the belief that you can have whatever you lack and the act that follows the belief is prosperity. It becomes spiritual in a sense that you are now getting in touch with the capacities you have – the capacities that are entirely modeled and made according to the likeness of your god. Because you are now aware of your capacities, you can practice these capacities by helping others – and thus gain spiritual prosperity in essence. Other people like you are made according to the image of their gods after all.

But how will you know if you are struggling with your spiritual prosperity? There is actually no one definite answer to that question. I rather believe that such struggles take in many different forms. Here are some of the few.

Self Esteem Activities

I walked in on Dino doing the craziest thing I have ever seen—saying HI to the sun! When Dino caught me staring at him aghast, he blurted out, “What? This is my self-esteem activity for the day!”

I would have thought Dino was just getting in touch with his schizophrenic tendencies. But when Dino began explaining to me about his so-called self esteem activities, I began to think that maybe I am the one with schizophrenic tendencies for not knowing about them. According to Dino, self esteem activities are simple activities that help individuals build self-esteem in just an hour a day. They help reaffirm one’s worth and increase self-confidence. Here are a few daily activities Dino sneaks in his everyday schedule to help him boost his self-esteem:

Write down five things you’re good at and tack it on the ceiling. Give at least five minutes to read the words before starting the day.

• Keep a thought for a day calendar – you get a mouthful of uplifting messages along with your daily dosage of caffeine.
