The Secret Movie

Everyone anticipates blockbuster Saturday – especially when it is Ernie’s turn to pick the films. Ernie simply has the talent to choose not-so-ordinary-flicks and true to his description, he did not fail us when last Saturday he decided on The Secret as our movie for the night.

The Secret movie was so good that we had to watch it thrice in a row. But what is the film all about?

The Secret movie is about an idea that has been circulating around the world for ages and this idea is the law of attraction. When the power of this law was discovered, people who were in authority tried to control it. But great and famous individuals got around such control through hiding this secret law of attraction in their masterpieces and in literature, which experts later unraveled.

The Secret tells viewers, in detail, how to control the law of attraction in order to accumulate wealth, recover or prevent diseases and ultimately, become successful in life.

• The film also informs us of our power to create our reality by modifying our mindset. According to those who practice the law of attraction, when we have clear intentions coupled with consistent action geared toward these intentions, we are encouraged to achieve our SMART goals.

• All of us use the law of attraction on a daily basis but many times we do it without necessarily noticing that we are doing it. Our thinking and our beliefs attract certain things, either good or bad, to our lives. For example, when we truly believe that we will be given a particularly elusive research grant, our thoughts tend to influence our behavior and thus in the end we act in ways that are directed at our craving.

• If we want to get the life that we really yearn for, we can ask the universe for it and the universe will provide us with the answer, which is generally aligned with our yearnings.

• We should visualize whatever it is that we want and take to heart this vision for it to materialize in reality.

• All of these however would not happen unless we have gratitude. We should thank life and its co-conspirators for the things we have been given. A grateful soul with a grateful heart is always blessed with more.

Putting it simply, The Secret movie, which is now my favorite, tells us that the law of attraction can be summarized by Henry Ford’s words “whether you think you can or you can’t, either way you are right”.

Have you seen The Secret? Have you discovered the secret the movie offers?

Numerology Compatibility

If you believe in astrology, then maybe you also believe in numerology – the science of numbers. You probably use it to determine if you and your current flame are compatible or to understand your relationships with people around you. Either way, you use numbers – commonly birthdates and give them meanings. This is what experts call numerology compatibility. Several online websites contain information regarding numerology compatibility – including interpretations, affinities and examples of its usage. Below is an overview of the meanings of numerology numbers. This is some interesting stuff, I hope your ready to learn.

One – When we think of this number, we feel that something is standing alone. Usually, this feeling of singularity is part of the meaning of one as a numerology number. Its other definitions include power, control, dominance and skill.

Two – Two means duo. It represents duality, perhaps in a situation or even in emotion. Two also symbolizes emotion, intuition, cooperation, diplomacy and secrecy.

Three – In numerology, three reflects love and affection, family life, creation and expression. It also means an abundant relationship among family members or friends and is usually associated with celebration and happiness.

Four – Four is generally a stable number corresponding to intellectual capability, logic and structure, discipline and endurance. However, there is a negative aspect to the discipline that it represents so depending on the individual’s personality, someone with this numerology number may find the discipline it brings as restrictive or dull.

Five – Five requires freedom and goes beyond the restrictions imposed by four. Five represents changes that may be in the form of travel and new experiences. It is the fifth point of mysticism’s magical pentagram (with the other four representing the elements of fire, water, earth and air) reflecting an invisible pure energy that may become restlessly needing change.

Set Your Goals

Jenn has never really liked making plans. Being a spontaneous person, she hates the idea of setting objectives for the future. To her, everything should be done and taken in the here and now. Then Jenn hit a bump in the map of her life. She lost her job due to her company’s downsizing and found herself back in the pool of unemployed. For the second time in her life (the first being her college days), she had to set her goals straight in order to get back on track.

If you are like Jenn, then you also need to set your goals in order for you to move ahead in life. But how do you set your goals and achieve them? The following bulleted points could help you.

Setting goals does not immediately mean that you will get results. They can disappear like long forgotten memories – particularly if you don’t do anything with them.

• Keep that fire burning! You have to keep your goals in mind and put them to heart. You don’t have to think of them 24/7 but you have to be constantly reminded of them so that you don’t lose track of what you are supposed to do.

• You can have your own vision board or board of dreams or whatever it is that you would like to call your shrine of the things that you want to achieve. Why settle for a mediocre writing list that could be so boring and so uninspiring? You should release your creative energies! Perhaps you like photo mosaic, if so then why not collect photos of your dreams and turn them into your portrait? Images are usually a great source of inspiration.

• You should focus on your goals. Set your goals sharp, definite and detailed. That way, you have an inkling regarding your next step.

Set a time frame for your goals. In this manner, you do not become lax or forgetful. As a bonus, the elation that you will experience once you achieve something within your designated time frame will provide you with more motivation for pursuing your other goals.

• Have measurable goals. Your goals must be attainable. Don’t make them too small that they end up restricting your potential or too big that they end up making you feel that you are not progressing.

Measure your progress. When you set your goals, you have to realize that it is essential for you to be able to measure your progress as this would keep you going in the right direction.

• Include inspirational messages / statements / thinking and positive words when you set your goals.

Prioritize. It is natural for you to have many objectives, many dreams and many desires. However, try to avoid being overwhelmed by them and prioritize those that you deem as more important. Remember, it takes one step at a time to get to the finish line.

• Carry with you a written reminder of your goals so as to crystallize them. This could be a simple note stored in your blackberry or in your cellular phone. However way you want to write them down, carry your list with you so that they appear as real as they could.

Set your goals realistically. This means you should be able to achieve your goals through your skills and capabilities. Dream about things that are plausible. You can’t dream of becoming the next Angelina Jolie if you don’t know the first thing about acting.

• Finally, if you fail in meeting your goals, don’t lose heart! Just learn from that experience! The key to success is learning from failure.

The above is basically a summary of the many ideas that one could use when setting goals and achieving them. If you are in need of the aforementioned suggestions then, just remember that to set your goals is equal to making that important choice in your life. Keep in mind that when you set your goals, you set your life.

Am I Depressed?

Am I depressed?” This is the question that sad people may ask themselves when they feel at loss as to what they can do about it. Sadness, however, is a normal feeling. Even overwhelming sadness is standard to someone who has just experienced the death of a loved one. Sadness though becomes abnormal when it comes out of the blue and the person can’t really explain the reason for his despair. “Am I depressed?” then becomes an inquiry that signifies that it may be crucial for an individual to see a doctor who has the authority to address his concerns. Some of the things that doctors may say about depression are as follows:

Characteristics of depression include persistent feelings of inadequacy, a low mood and a general loss of interest in pleasurable things. People who are troubled by the disorder don’t necessarily ask themselves “Am I depressed?” but because they may not understand how they feel, it’s possible for them to not know what they should do about it. It’s important for those around them to help them by communicating and bringing to their attention the availability of health services for their distress.

• Some of the factors that affect depression are negative thinking and low self-esteem. Because of this, there are mental health facets that try to encourage individuals who may be on the verge of depression to engage in self-esteem activities that can boost this aspect of their personalities.

But what are self-esteem activities?
