<p>Like any other human being, my life isn’t always sunshine and blue skies. I’ve had my share of problems, both emotional and not-so emotional. Every time I start feeling low though, I let my mind do the talking so that I can get out of the rut. But how does <strong>the mind power</strong> function? Well, it’s like this:</p>
<p>•	The seat of our cognition is the brain. Since this is the case, <strong>the mind power</strong> controls our thoughts. When we think negatively all the time, the mind makes these negative concepts come true. These thoughts increase in strength and they begin to affect our attitudes, our perceptions and our behavior. When we <strong>think positively</strong>, the mind does the same. For good things to happen in our lives we have to constantly visualize mental images that are also good.</p>

<p>•	The mind also governs our emotions. To avoid feeling down when life takes a hit on us, we must affirm to ourselves that troubles will come to pass. These assertions will help us feel more positive and more able to face life’s challenges.<br />

<p>•	The mind can make us sick and can also cure our pain, physical or emotional. Our emotions manifest themselves in physical ways. For example, when we are depressed, the body reacts in manners that would correspond to the depression. Hence we may lack appetite due to the sadness and eventually we might develop ulcer from not eating. Similarly, the mind can convince a sick person that he is getting better. Someone who is feverish may then be cured of the symptoms if truly believes that he isn’t sick.        </p>
<p>•	Finally, when we have things that we need to accomplish and find ourselves unable to do so, <strong>the mind power</strong> dictate to us our goal. We can do this through the help of concentration that is, focusing <a href="http://www.selfmademiracle.com/motivationmodel/can-motivational-thoughts-help-when-motivation-flies-out-the-window/">our thoughts</a>, thinking of our goal and visualizing it. Afterwards, we should come up with a specific plan on how to go about achieving the said goal. The plan naturally has to be based on what’s tangible and real otherwise, all our visualization and planning will be in vain. Then we can start working on our plans. It will take effort on our part, but we need to commit to our memory that in the end, our effort will pay. </p>

<p>“I can do it!” Elizabeth said loudly for the 9th time that evening. We were the last employees at the coffee house and we were closing it up for the long weekend ahead of us. Whereas I was thinking of a fun trip to a coastal area, Elizabeth was more concerned about giving herself some sort of solitary and modified pep talk. I asked her what exactly she was doing and she said that she was unleashing the  <strong>power of subconscious mind</strong>, specifically hers. Apparently, Elizabeth has decided to go back to college after having left it behind some 10 years ago. Having been accepted to a local university, she was going to start her classes after the long weekend and she felt squeamish inside. Hence, her attempt at unleashing the <a href="http://www.selfmademiracle.com/glossary/#powerofthesubconsciousmind">power of subconscious mind</a> which she assumed was going to keep her nerves from breaking down.</p>

<p>	But what does the  <strong>power of subconscious mind</strong> mean? Here are the things that Elizabeth said about it: </p>

<p>•	Whatever is conceived by the mind, it can create. There exists a conscious mind which is composed of things that people know. Then there is also the subconscious. Everything that is thought of, imagined by and felt by the conscious mind is sent to the <strong>subconscious mind</strong>. The subconscious then conspires with the universe to create a reality grounded on the messages originating from the former. </p>
<p>•	Each thought, good or bad, cultivated and nourished by the conscious mind will activate the <strong>the subconscious mind</strong> and will then be generated in the living world.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Mind power</strong> is the way we think. The mind and its thoughts cannot simultaneously be composed of positive and negative ideas—one usually dominates the other. When positive thoughts dominate us, then we have positive things happening to us and vice versa. </p>

We should influence our minds with positive emotions, thoughts and energy and attract only what we desire. This means focusing on what we want, and not the lack of it, whatever it is.</p>
<p>•	Aside from the ability to control the data processed and recorded in our  <strong>subconscious mind</strong>, we also have the ability to edit, overwrite or delete unproductive data in the <strong>subconscious mind</strong>. This is done through establishing <strong>new beliefs</strong>. </p>
<p>•	We should <strong>acknowledge</strong> whatever <strong>emotion</strong> we are feeling including fear, anxiety and depression. Resisting these emotions will only allow them to grow. But if we accept them, we can shift our focus from them to more pleasant events and these negative emotions will diminish. </p>
<p>•	To utilize the <strong>power of subconscious mind</strong>, we should take action. Positive thoughts will go only as far as we make conscious effort to maintain them. </p>
<p>•	The subconscious mind is a fertile soil that assents to the seeds planted within it. Habitual thoughts and beliefs are the seeds that are continually sown. If we plant weed then naturally we will get weed. If we plant a fruit then we will harvest the same thing. The conscious mind is the gardener that chooses which of the many types of seeds will be tended in the inner garden of the subconscious.</p>
